Writer-director James Gunn has provided an update on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, saying in a new interview that Marvel is “really stoked” with what’s been delivered so far. Gunn also discussed the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, the filming of which was delayed due to COVID.

Talking to Collider, Gunn said Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is “going great.” Gunn specifically mentioned how excited he is about having actor Chukwudi Iwuji, who plays Murn in Gunn’s Peacemaker, as a lead actor in the next Guardians film. Gunn also teased that the new film might not be what people expect.

“People are freaking out over how good this guy is. Literally freaking out. I gave a bunch of scenes to Marvel right before Christmas break.
